For a friend's birthday, we went to Monday Night Raw a week after Smackdown Live invaded.
Main Event (the show not the placement on the card)
Jason Jordan def. Curt Hawkins
-Basic match, Jordan had some cheers at the time.
Cedric Alexander def. Tony Nese
-Pretty good match, with Alexander finishing the job off with the Lumbar Check.
Stephanie McMahon returns and threatens Kurt Angle's Job for survivor series
-It made it a lot easier to figure out who was winning the Men's Survivor Series match.
Nia Jax def. Bayley, announced as first pick for Raw's Women's Survivor Series team.
-Nia was surprisingly cheered heavily. Shows how bad Bayley's been booked. Immediately AFTER...
SAMOA JOE returns and def. Apollo Crews...and then chokes out Titus. (Also heel promo before that)
-Fantastic promo to turn the crowd against him right after coming out to THUNDEROUS Joe chants.
The Miz def. Matt Hardy to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship
-Very good match. Wish that Hardy had been broken by then, but he showed signs at the time.
Asuka def. Stacy Cullen
-It didn't last long.
Daniel Bryan appears to apologize for Kurt Angle.
-He got attacked by Kane later.
-....BOOOOOOOOOO
Finn Balor def. Cesaro....then got tombstoned by Kane
-GREAT Match. Thoroughly enjoyed it, then Kane had to go and Tombstone Balor.
Kane def. Seth Rollins
-Considering they were building Kane to feed to Strowman....Still not happy about it.
Rhyno and Heath Slater def. Chadd Too Badd and Texx Ferguson (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows)
-Halloween themed match, just glad to see Texx/Sexx Ferguson finally make it to WWE. Southpaw Regional Wrestling well represented here.
Jason Jordan destroyed Elias's guitar
-Don't hurt guitars.
Kalisto def. Drew Gulak after Gulak perfectly butchered Enzo Amore's catchphrase
-Sadly, the best part of this segment was Gulak properly spelling the word Soft.
Alexa Bliss def. Mickie James to retain the Raw Women's Championship
-Very good match, but the ending was rushed to set up:
Braun Strowman returns, beating up the Miz and Bo Dallas....then powerslammed Curtis Axel 4 times followed by a 5th one on the announce table.
-Poor Axel....
As a live show, it was easy to become immersed in the WWE Universe. Quite fun indeed. I got an NWO Baltimore shirt too.
As an episode of Raw, even with all the returns, it DRAGGED. WWE TV tapings are better live than how it's presented on USA network.
