Mae Young Classic Final and Wrap Up

Hello smarks and marks alike! If you haven't been keeping up with the MYC, I'll be giving you both a snapshot analysis and a recap of what happened in the Finals! Also, I'll give some extra credit to various wrestlers throughout the tournament and final rankings after the tournament ends.

So the road to the Mae Young Classic Finals for the two women paved out like this:

Main Event:
Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler
-Sportsmanship kind of followed
-Dueling chants, but definitely stronger chants for Sane
-Great takedown by Baszler but almost pinned on 3 different occasions off of 3 different submission attempts
-Semi-stiff kick to the back by Baszler, but then springboard headscissors
-DEAR GOD WHY DID YOU KICK MY WIFE SO HARD!?!?!??!?!?!! Equilibrium of Sane definitely rattled as she hits her with a XP kick.
-Smart move by Baszler to use the double wrist lock on the elbow drop arm. (Can definitely hear Ronda Rousey in the background) followed by the stomp
-Very good offense, but rollup by Sane followed by a miss on the spear
-Straight arm armbar, followed by a twist snap on the elbow by Baszler
-Baszler counters the spear into the Les Artes gutwrenches. Fantastic counter wrestling by Baszler following it up by the catch style joint holds. Shades of Zack Sabre Jr. and Pete Dunne
-Chops by Sane, Baszler getting POUNDED with those double axes and Kojima/Kobashi shots but NICE knee by Baszler
-SPEAR! And Sane caught Baszler RIGHT in the ribs.
-SLIDING D, followed by the basement dropkick to the ribcage and the springboard Double stomp!
-Leg Scissors by Sane, fantastic counter strategy...but Baszler was able to mount to full guard.
-Rollout Dodge by Sane to hit the shoulder tackle on Baszler. Baszler then dodged the corner Sliding D
-Axe Kick by Sane to the ribcage
-Kairi caught in mid air by Baszler and immediately trapped into the rear naked choke! She almost passed out BUT was able to elbow the ribs out. (Baszler's selling has improved) The crowd got louder the moment Kairi started to escape!
-OOOH THAT Spinning Backfist by Sane!
-Baszler stops Sane with the Yakuza Kick to get up the turnbuckle
-Crowd's getting louder as OH GOD It's a KIMURA on the Top Rope! But Kairi hits a headbutt on the ribs and head!
-DEL RIO STOMP! 2 count (and too close to the ropes)0
-SLIDING D to the RIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-SANE WITH THE ELBOW DROP STRAIGHT TO THE RIBS!!!!!!!!!!! AND MY WIFE WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING IS WONDERFUL! (ok I'm done with my bias)
