NxT Takeover Card
Bobby Roode vs. Drew McIntyre for the NxT Championship
-Either McIntyre wins or that rumored stable idea comes into play and both men are laid out by Roderick Strong (personally I'd prefer a Triple Threat with Strong winning due to interference from ReDRagon and a potential debut from ADAM COLE BAY BAY!)
Result: McIntyre over Roode with the Claymore. Postmatch: ADAM COLE BAY BAY! debuts and is joined by ReDRagon and they all attack McIntyre
Asuka vs. Ember Moon for the NxT Women's Championship
-I would say Ember finally dethrones Asuka because if she doesn't, we'd have to wait until the winner of the Mae Young Classic to find the next actual No. 1 contender that hasn't already lost to Asuka. And while I love the thought of Kairi Sane or Shayna Baszler taking the crown from Asuka, if you're going to pull the trigger on the former Athena, it's now or never.
Result: Asuka def. Ember Moon in an Instant Classic via Asuka Lock. Calling it now: The Winner of the Mae Young Classic will be the woman who dethrones Asuka. That one rivaled Bate vs. Dunne at Takeover Chicago for WWE produced Match of the Year.
The Authors of Pain vs. SaNItY for the NxT Tag Team Championship
-AoP retain.....unless Killian Dain is cheered. Then Sanity wins because I like Killian Dain.
Sanity was cheered. SANITY won. ReDRagon Debuted and destroyed SANITY....and AOP. LIVE IS AMAZING.
Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami
-Aleister Wins. Because Hideo doesn't need to win to continue to be a dickhead heel.
Result: I win. Because I called it. And it was a good match!
Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade Cien Almas w/Zelina Vega
-I see Gargano losing because there's always that one Heel victory that happens at a Takeover that (even though it's a great match) is purposely there to deflate the crowd. And if Hideo isn't winning, I can't see Almas losing.
Result: Almas def. Gargano is a FANTASTIC opener.
SummerSlam Card
PRE-SHOW
The Miztourage (The Miz, Curtis Axel, and Bo Dallas) w/Maryse vs. Jason Jordan and the Hardyz (Matt and Jeff)
-Miztourage leaves victorious
Result: Miz wins via SCF to an empty arena. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA (So much for "prestige for IC title"
Neville vs. Akira Tozawa for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
-Neville retains the gold
Well, I was right that Neville would win and have the Championship. Tozawa came in as defending champion.
The New Day vs. The Usos for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships
-New Day Retains.
Results: The Usos regain the gold and I can't complain. That match was Fantastic! This duo of teams can do no wrong right now! (I will say though, I do want Breezango to win the Championships now).
(Main Card)
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Universal Championship
-I root for Joe, I expect Reigns to win
-Lesnar Retains, Reigns eats the pin, but Braun Strowman stole the show on this night. He was destructive to the point that Lesnar was fighting from underneath. I would Love to see a Strowman Lesnar match now. They've built Braun so well. Samoa Joe had his moments too but this was Strowman's statement performance.
Jinder Mahal w/The Singh Brothers vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship
-Shinsuke Nakamura wins
Results: I was wrong. And this match legitimately sucked. This would have been an ok match if Jinder was still the jobber he was and Nakamura squashed him. This is unacceptable for a WWE Championship match. 2 years in a row that the Universal Championship match outperformed the WWE Championship. Horrible.
AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens for the WWE United States Championship (Shane McMahon as Referee)
-AJ retains
Got this one right and I believe it was well done. Considering the story leading up and the match itself, it did the job and continued the momentum that was created by the Raw Women's Championship and the Raw Tag Team Championship.
Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks (Bayley injured)for the WWE Raw Women's Championship
-Sasha Finally wins the big one.
I like getting predictions right! This was a great time for Sasha to finally win a Championship at a PPV and to do it as Summerslam heightens the importance. The animosity that the two competitors hold against each other was beyond palpable and quite visible the entire match. I felt worked as I saw every stiff shot that Alexa had for Sasha and how both didn't hold back on the big moves. Fantastic match (wasn't Asuka/Ember or Bayley/Sasha from 2015, but fantastic nevertheless).
Naomi vs. Natalya for the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship
-Naomi wins....but I wouldn't be surprised by a cash in either.
Natalya wins by submission....and no cash in (which does make sense). Natalya has the championship....and I don't really care. They were also out performed by Raw.
Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose for the Raw Tag Team Championship
-Cesaro and Sheamus retain because Dean Turns because THAT HAS TO HAPPEN. (but if it doesn't and Rollins/Ambrose become tag champs I won't complain)
I was wrong and Damn Glad I was to be wrong! This is what woke me up in this PPV. Fantastic quality match and will say that the Two Tag Title Matches lived up to hype. I can't say that one was better than the other, but I can say that minus the main event, this stole the main card, if not the entire day. Bonus: SHOUTOUT to Cesaro for destroying the beach ball! Screw those marks. If I'm at an event and a beach ball is thrown my way, if I'm not destroying it I'm definitely taking the air out of it. That's some bullcrap that I hate seeing.
John Cena vs. Baron Corbin
-Cena wins but Corbin BEATS THE LIVING HELL out of him for screwing his money in the bank attempt over.
Cena Won....and Corbin is pretty much buried. He's done at least until Survivor Series if he can regain his credibility through a Survivor Series team.
Randy Orton vs. Rusev
-Rusev wins or he's done credibility wise.
Bell rings...RKO....Over. Rusev's done.
Big Show/Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass
(Why isn't this on the pre show?)
Cass wins. But Enzo finally gets one over on Cass.
Cass won....and Enzo didn't get one over. Disappointing.
Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
-Balor wins.
Balor DOMINATED and I enjoyed the match and the theatrics. Just too bad that this was technically low in importance.
