WWE BattleGround Review

BEST SHOW EVER.

At least that's how it felt after leaving the Verizon Center in D.C.

Normally with these reviews I either talk too much or I shortcut it. This is going to be to the point.

Kickoff Match: Breezango vs. The Usos

Was it better on the Network or Live?
It was better live. All of us in the crowd were banking on the Usos begrudgingly. And then Breeze gets the win and all of us in our section (well...minus the little kids) are excited!

How was the match?
Good match. 6.5 out of 10 after looking at both views.

Was the ending worth it?
Yeah, Tyler Breeze needed a win.

Did the crowd help it or hurt it?
The Crowd wasn't bad, but it was more appreciative live than it was on the Network.

Oh, and Fandangoing is STILL AWESOME

Opening match: Charlotte and Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks and ????(Bayley!)

Better live or the network?
LIVE. The pop Bayley got for coming out was amplified live.

How was the match?
8 out of 10 live, 7 out of 10 on the network. 7.5 overall

Ending worth it?
YES! Especially since the next night, Sasha defeated Charlotte to win the WWE Women's Championship

Did the Crowd help?
Oh yeah.

The Wyatt Family vs. The New Day

Better on the Network or Live?
I would say for the majority of the match, it was better on the Network....but when Xavier started his comeback against Bray Wyatt it was fantastic live

How was the match?
Big E's Spear through the ropes is straight up scary to watch. 6.75 out of 10

Ending worth it? In my opinion yes. Having the Wyatts triumph dominantly was satisfactory.

Crowd help?
Eh...we were okay in this match

Rusev vs. Zack Ryder for the United States Championship

Better on the Network or Live?
Network. Even the Mojo Rawley part was better.

How was the match?
It was a decent match. Solid 6 out of 10.

Ending worth it?
Storyline wise to write out Ryder as a singles competitor? Definitely. Building Rusev? yes. So yeah.

Crowd help?
When Ryder was about to escape the Accolade and when Mojo (who is from the area) came out.

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

Better on the Network or Live?

LIVE DAMMIT. THIS WAS THE BEST MATCH OF THE NIGHT! IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST STEENERICO/OwensVZayn matches EVER!

How was the match?
BEST MATCH OF THE NIGHT! 9.99999999999 out of 10

Ending worth it?
SUCH AN AMAZING ENDING! EXPLODERS AND BRAINBUSTERS AND HALF AND HALFS AND HELLUVAS!

Crowd help?
Fight Forever. Enough Said.

Crowd Help?

Standing ovation

Becky Lynch vs. Natalya

Better on the Network or Live?

Network. People were so exhausted in the arena you could help but feel bad.
On the network, it actually was a good match with good drama at the end from Becky.

How was the match? 6 out of 10 in the arena, 7 out of 10 on the network. So 6.5

Ending worth it?
In retrospect not really.

Crowd?
Sucked

The Miz vs. Darren Young? Intercontinental Championship

Better on the network or live?

uh....It sucked both ways.

How was the match?
Take away the ending, 5 out of 10. Add the ending....3 out of 10. Worst match on the card.

Ending worth it? The worst part. A dirty finish, and an unclear one at that. Confusing and ridiculous.

Crowd?
WTF. Honestly, would have done better in the death spots on the card (2nd or second to last).

Semi-Main event
The Club vs. Enzo, Cass, and John Cena

Network or Live?
LIVE. This was a great match and segment!

How was the match?
I enjoyed it thoroughly. Enzo Amore became a WWE Star out of this. Everyone came out better than they came in. 8 out of 10

Ending worth it?
Yup. Cena pinning Styles after the match and promo made perfect sense and didn't weaken Styles at all.

Crowd?
Amore had us eating out of the palm of his hands. The crowd was super into this match all the way through.

Highlight Reel Segment was cool live, blah on the network. No rating because it wasn't a match, but Randy Orton is more fun in this role. It didn't feel entirely scripted and it gave him a good story going into his big match against Brock Lesnar. Plus who doesn't like Chris Jericho getting RKO'd?

Main event:

Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Reigns was booed the ENTIRE NIGHT...to the point where I felt guilty about it.

Network or Live?
LIVE. The match was great and the ending was perfect!

How was the match? 8.75 out of 10. Rollins was on all cylinders, Ambrose stepped up, and Reigns was fantastic as the force. Plus amidst the wellness policy violation, Ambrose pinning Reigns was perfect booking.

Ending worth it? Yep. The Smackdown Roster coming out to celebrate Ambrose was a nice touch. Also, I found it hilarious that they forced the Usos to carry Ambrose. That's just acid in the face right there.

Crowd? Loved it. Absolutely loved it.

Live it was a 9.98 out of 10. There were a few blips, but the great stuff about the PPV were so great that it cancelled out a lot of the WTF.

Network: 9 out of 10. Equally as enjoyable and it got my family (well...part of my family) to watch (mostly because I watched the network version at a beach house after hooking up the laptop).

I was greatly impressed with the last non-Big 4 Co-branded PPV. Hope Summerslam is equally as fantastic.

WHEN IN DOUBT....WATCH PRO WRESTLING DAMMIT!
